Lucille Wood - Gita International Yoga - Episode # 8

Lucille Wood is the co-Director of Gita International Yoga with business partner Di Lucas. This is a fabulous story of three very sassy women who together have carved a significant place in Melbourne’s Yoga history for 58 years. They proudly claim over 60,000 students  and several hundred Yoga Teachers have been taught the Gita yoga system of health and wellbeing.

Gita Founder, Margrit Segesman (1905- 1998), a privileged Swiss baroness was a fashion model for the House of Dior in France. After struggling debilitating health issues she hitchhiked to India spending several years living in a cave in the Himalayas with her Guru. In 1954 at the age of 50 she bought all that she had learnt and migrated to Melbourne to establish the Gita International Yoga Centre. Her story is wondrous and inspirational. Lucille Wood has captured Margrit’s story in her book “I am a Yogi”.

In 1983 Gita’s growth and expansion was entrusted to the direction of Lucille and Di. The Gita Yoga School continues its Gold Teacher Training Diploma as well as philosophy and yoga classes for the public.

Khuti Foundation is Gita’s philanthropic outreach. It runs the Khuti Family Life program, reading improvement programs, classes for people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction as well as counselling and support systems for people who are HIV positive.

  • Its like you learn my thoughts! You appear to understand so much approximately this, such as you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you just could do with some p.c. to power the message house a little bit, however other than that, that is magnificent blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.

  • Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets
I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this.
Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly
enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your
    new updates.
